The hardest working space would have to be the floors in your home. With the house being closed up all Winter long, there is no time like Spring to give them a little extra TLC.
Whether you have carpet that gets vacuumed every few days through to your tiles, hardwood or laminate that gets mopped once a week, by following these few simple steps you can have every room in your home fresh and clean for the warm September sun rays to shine on through.
Laminate and vinyl flooring are quite easy to clean. Once it’s been vacuumed you can use warm soapy water or try a little white vinegar and water. Use a damp mop to clean the surface, making sure you get into every nook and cranny.
If you have hardwood timber floors start by vacuuming the entire room. It’s also a good time to vac along the skirting of the room to remove all dust build up or when you open up your windows to let in the beautiful Spring breeze, it will blow all the dust from your skirts back onto your freshly cleaned floors. Again, this is an area that you can use a slightly wet mop we recommend using a cleaning product specifically formulated for hardwood floors.
The carpets in your home are the perfect hiding place for dust. Try and have your carpet professionally cleaned at least once a year. You can even hire steam cleaners to give your carpet a deep clean. Start by moving everything out of the room so you can get to areas that normally get missed like under furniture or under the bed. Spot clean any stains first before starting the intense clean. If you have steam cleaned your carpet, make sure you allow enough time for it to dry before you replace your furniture. It’s a great time to plan a sleepover for the kids or have a camp out in your lounge room.
And don’t forget the hardest working item at your place. The front door mat! It’s where everyone enters, so shake it off and if you can, hose it down. If you start with a clean slate it will stop your visitors from tracking more dirt through your beautifully spring cleaned home!
